Lonless E. Fields, 83, of Durham died Wednesday at Duke Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mr. Fields was predeceased by his wife Hazel D. Fields and a son, Bobby D.

Fields. He was a farmer. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Fields, of Durham, and Ann Robinette, of Sharpsburg, GA; one son, Ronnie L. Fields, of Durham; two sisters, Eleanor Norris of Durham and Elgie Lee Saunders; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m.

at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens by Rev. Thomas Lee and Rev. Larry Davis. The family will receive friends at Clements Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00. HOUSER Mrs.

Louise Houser, 78, a resident of 4124 Toroella died April 13, 1999 at Durham Regional Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Art Houser and mother of two children; daughter, Mrs. Marsha Russo of Cary, and son, Mike Houser of Vancouver, WA. She has three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs.

Houser was born in Pittsburgh, PA. and has lived in Durham since 1985. Mrs. Houser was an accomplished amateur watercolor artist and a devoted wife and mother. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

JONES Jim Jones, 88, of 908 Carter Avenue, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, in the Triangle Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillborough after an extended illness.

Mr. Jones was a native of Harnett County and had lived in Durham most of his life. He was the son of the late Lemuel and Corina Horton Jones and was the husband of the late Janie Broadwell Jones. He was a retired employee of Burlington Industries and formerly attended Liberty Baptist Church. He was fond of woodworking and gardening.

Surviving are two sons, Daylon Jones and Jeanette of Bolivia and Kenneth Jones of the home; one daughter, Joyce Jones of the home; 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Jack Cox will officiate.

BEACH Mrs. Mary Beach, age 81, passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 1999, after an extended illness. She was a resident of The Forest at Duke, 2701 Pickett Road. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1917, she lived in New Haven, Connecticut for her younger years, graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont in 1938, and did further graduate study at the Breadloaf School of English.

Married in 1943 to Dr. Waldo Beach, she joined him from 1943-46 at Antioch College in Ohio, where he served as Professor and she as Assistant Dean of Women. The Beaches came to Duke and Durham in 1946, where Dr. Beach joined the faculty of the Divinity School. Over the span of their many years in Durham, Mary Beach was very active in campus and civic doings.

She served as President of the Lakewood School PTA, as President of the Campus Club, as docent at the Duke Museum of Art, as well as on the secretarial staff at the Duke Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Waldo Beach; three children, Dr. Richard Beach of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Margo Sullivan, of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth Ann Beach of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; and five grandchildren, Benjamin Beach, Alison Krampf, David Sullivan, Michael Simmons, and Sarah Simmons.

A memorial service in her honor will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Durham, Reverend Joseph Harvard and Reverend Elizabeth Grant presiding. The service will be held on Friday, April 16, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. A native of Orange County, he moved to Durham as a child and lived here since. He was employed with Durham Laundry for many years as a route manager, retiring in 1975. Mr.

McDade was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, the Hudson Sunday School Class of that church and a member of the VFW. Surviving are his wife, Willie Mae Garrard McDade of Durham and one brother, Arthur K. McDade of Durham. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m.

Hermon Baptist Church or to Triangle Hospice. MOODY Mrs. Bessie Moody, 94, a lifelong resident of Durham died Tuesday at Durham Regional Hospital. She was the wife of the late Henry Lewis Moody. Prior to retirement, she worked as a women's fashions seamstress with Ruth Gordon's Fashions and Belk-Leggett.

Mrs. Moody was a member of Braggtown Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Sue M. Belk and her husband, Pat, of Durham and Barbara M. Brown and her husband, Bobby, of Raleigh; a sister, Sankie Dunn Reeves of Greensboro; and grandchildren, Ryan M.

Belk, Robby C. Brown, Sharron B. Britt, and Jill B. Chouinard; and greatgrandchildren Tate, Tiffany and Vikki Weiger. A Graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m.

A native of Durham, she was educated in the Durham City Schools and Duke University.

She had lived in Durham all of her life. Mrs. Pollard was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Pollard, Jr.

He was a member of the Unitarian Church. Mr. Summers is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Herrin Summers; a sister, Louise Brooks; and her nephew, Robert Myrick of Durham. A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m.

Chapel Hill. Darryl served as an M.P. in the U.S. Army. Most of his service time was spent in Germany.

Since his retirement he has made his home in Baroda, MI. JORDAN CONWAY Bettie Cribb Jordan, age 87, wife of the late William Hamilton "Buddy" Jordan, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999 in Conway Nursing Center. Mrs. Jordan was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late Henry Boyd and Frances Elizabeth Grainger Cribb. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Conway and a charter member of the Conway Business Professional Womens Club and the Iris Garden Club. Mrs.

Jordan was a member of Waccamaw Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and United Daughters of the Confederacy. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Lee and Took Gandy of Florence, Iris and Charles Byerly of Durham, NC and Fran and Ken Summerall of Conway; four brothers, Clarence Cribb of Marion, Cornie Cribb of Darlington, Ernest Cribb of Cantonment, and George Robert Cribb of Hilton Head; one sister, Ina Lee Gaskins of Mt. Melvin, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999 at her residence. She was born April 26, 1914, in Harrison, NJ, a daughter of the late Will and Clara Holt French. Mrs. Melvin was a retired secretary with Prudential Insurance Co. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Eastern Star of NJ and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors are three daughters, Diane Driscoll and her husband Robert, of Chapmanville, Joyce M. Harris and her husband Milton Karetas of Myrtle Beach, Gail M. Barker and Sarah Glasco*ck. She was predeceased by her husband Carlos P. Womack, and two sons, Carlos Womack, Jr. and John B. Womack.
