Escape from Tarkov provides many alternatives to finding new gear and equipment, recently, players have taken to the skies in search of new loot, weapons, and supplies!

How To Call In An Airdop

Airdrops have an automatic spawn chance of 20% per raid, having a Russian Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A fly above the map and dropping a supply crate onto the map. However, this alerts all players and usually results in carnage. Players can call in their airdrop, eliminating the 20% chance and making it 100% with a flare gun or a handheld flare.

Players will need to obtain the following equipment first:

The ZiD SP-81 26x75 signal pistol can be bartered from level 3 Jaeger with these items:

  • 3x Makarov PM (t) 9x18PM Pistol
  • 2x TT-33 7.62x25 TT Pistol
  • Gunpowder "Eagle"

This will provide you with the flare gun needed to call the airdrop, alternatively, you can use the handheld "RSP-30 reactive signal cartridge (red)" to call an airdrop. The 26x75 flare cartridge and the RSP-30 handheld signal cartridge cannot be purchased from the Flea market and must be looted from dead scavs, weapon boxes, or wooden crates.

How To Use The Handheld Flare or Flaregun

Once obtaining either the handheld flare, the flare cartridge, or the flaregun, head into the raid and find an appropriate place on the map to call the airdrop, preferably an open area.

  • Aim your flaregun/handheld flare into the sky and fire
  • Wait a few minutes to locate the plane and drop
  • Note down the compass direction of the falling airdrop

Airdrops don't always land on the "call area" where you fired the flare, therefore, it's vital to remember the general direction of the airdrop with a compass.

The Airdrop will always flare red smoke inside a blue container. There is a 20-minute cooldown period between airdrops which is indicated by a Wait for arrival! Airspace is congested" notification in the bottom right corner of the screen after the first drop.
