New student registration for Fall 2024 will open on Monday, April 8, 2024. You will be notified by email in the spring when to begin the New Student Registration process.

New Student Registration

Registration will open for Fall 2024 freshman and transfer students who have submitted their enrollment deposit in the Spring. The Center of Academic and Professional Success office will be your go-to resource for any questions regarding registration, curriculum requirements, or graduation progress.

To get started, please carefully review and follow the instructions below. These steps are required to enroll.

Complete the online New Student Information Session on Canvas. All new students must complete the online session. The New Student Information Session is a self-paced, online course designed to help you prepare to register for your first semester courses. It will take approximately two hours to complete. You will access the New Student Information Session in Canvas, an online portal found inside your SharkLink.

  • To access: Activate and log in to your SharkLink account - you will need your NSU ID. Once logged in to SharkLink, select "Applications" in the left hand navigation menu, then select the "Canvas" application icon Inside Canvas, select "Courses" in the left hand navigation, and the New Student Information Session should appear as one of your available courses - if you do not see the course, please contact the CAPS office at (954) 262-7990

Schedule a Group Registration Session. After completing the New Student Information Session and passing the mandatory quiz in Canvas (the quiz is found in the last module of the session) you must register for an interactive Group Registration Session with a CAPS Advisor. Please be sure to have access to a computer in a quiet location to facilitate course registration successfully. At the end of the group advising session, you will be registered for your first semester as an NSU Shark!

Please note: Placement in some of your first-semester courses will be determined by your SAT/ACT scores or previous academic credentials. Please have any scores or transcripts handy during the Group Registration Session, as this will help determine the courses you will need. You may speak with a CAPS Advisor about taking challenge exams for certain subjects. In addition to helping you select your first semester courses, the CAPS Advisor will review with you any transfer credits, necessary admission documentation, testing information, and Experiential Education and Learning (ExEL) requirements.

Step 5: Submit Official Test Scores

If you were admitted to NSU using self-reported test scores or test scores submitted by your high school counselor on your transcripts, request your official SAT, CLT, or ACT scores to be submitted to NSU directly from the testing agency.

SAT School Code: 5514

ACT School Code: 6706

If you took Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses, or Cambridge International Examinations, and took corresponding exams, please submit official test scores directly from the testing agency.
